Kilpatrick Townsend's San Francisco or Walnut Creek office is seeking a Corporate Associate with at least 2 years of relevant corporate law experience for our Venture Capital and M&A practices in Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Walnut Creek.  The candidate should have some expertise in negotiating and advising both issuers and investors with respect to venture capital financing, with private company mergers and acquisitions, and with negotiating strategic transactions.  Interest in representing emerging growth technology companies through all stages of their life-cycle, serving as “outside general counsel,” including day-to-day counseling through direct interactions with senior management,  as well as public company reporting, and supervising paralegals and managing financing transactions from start-to finish is a plus. The candidate should have a strong desire to be a direct contributor in a dynamic and collaborative working environment and be an energetic and creative problem-solver with superior interpersonal and client-management skills. Prior work experience or education related to science, technology, engineering, or math desired. CA bar preferred.

The Walnut Creek office of Kilpatrick Townsend is seeking a full-time, entry-level Patent Engineer. A Patent Engineer is a professional that will help prepare patent applications for inventions and responses to Office Actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and from foreign patent offices. Patent Engineering is suitable for individuals that enjoy learning about different inventions and who like to read and write. Patent engineers work towards certification as Patent Agents that are licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Starting salaries are competitive with other industries.

The successful candidate will be a recent graduate or scheduled to graduate in 2020 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics. Other degrees will be considered if the candidate has taken a reasonable number of programming courses and had obtained good grades in them. A strong mathematics background is highly desirable. A minimum GPA of 3.0 and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
